"From ancient Taraz to the present day"

"The Living Red Book"
One-day horse-walking route through the Aksu Jabaglinsky Reserve.

There are more than 16 species of plants listed in the red book (among them Greig's tulips). There are 58 birds, among the rarest golden eagle, vulture, black stork, blue bird, paradise flycatcher. Today there are 55 argali, 40 heads of marals, more Tian Shan bears and many other animals.
More detail of the plant and animal world of the reserve can be found in the zoological museum of nature in the city of Toadaghly. The peculiarity of the route lies in the visit to the specially protected natural areas of the Jambyl region – state nature reserves.
The landscapes of wild tulips are of great biological, scientific and aesthetic value. Of the 34 species of tulips native to Kazakhstan, 11 species grow in the Jambyl region, of which 4 are listed in the Red Book of Kazakhstan, and Greig's tulip is listed in the International Red Book.
Currently, tulips are on the verge of destruction and practical extinction. Their beauty turns into a big disaster for him and is the object of mass fees for sale. Preserving the unique natural landscape of tulips is an archival and important task.

The Legacy of Ancient Taraz
To date, there are more than 200 fortifications in the Jambyl region. Some have already been excavated and some have remained untouched. This historical and archeological route is aimed at getting acquainted with ancient monuments of architecture.
The itinerary begins with visits to nearby towns such as Lower Baryshan, Juvikat and Kone Taraz. Then the path follows to the town of "Tamda" of the Talas district. Along the way, tourists will see the Jaratau Ridge, which captures with its rock paintings, will admire the beauty of the lake "Билікөл" and visit the ancient mounds located along the road. The next day, tourists will visit the towns of Kostobe, Ornek, Akyrtas, Kulan and the ancient capital of the Western Turkic Kaganate, the town of Balasagun.
